Common Questions:

What is the quality like? - Flavoreeds are made from the highest quality cane available and play as good if not better than anything else on the market. During the flavouring process the pores in the reeds are filled and the reed therefore plays like a reed that has been burnished (thumb nail rubbed over the pores to remove air and moisture). Although attractively priced with a wide appeal to students, they are professional quality.

How long does the flavour last? - It depends on how much they are played. The flavour dissipates like chewing gum etc. Often when the flavour has gone it is time to get a new reed anyway.

What is the most popular flavour? - Blue Raspberry. Although this reed was discontinued early on due to some of the colouring coming off on the players lips, popular demand brought it back as it became "cool" to have slightly blue lips. The red flavours are the next best sellers (strawberry, bubblegum, cherry red, watermelon)

What are the advantages? - Apart from the natural quality of the cane that is used, all reeds need to be thoroughly moistened in order to play at their best. Many students don't bother wetting their reeds properly and are often discouraged from practicing by how their instruments sound when they start. We trust that Flavoreeds will be properly moistened before playing. Why should a reed have to taste like wood?

What do they contain? - The colours and flavouring are natural food additives that can be found in any baked goods in a supermarket. A miniscule amount of sugar is used as a sweetener, but not to the extent that it will cause sticky pads etc. There is no alcohol used at all, and Pina Colada is just a non-alcoholic flavour. Cinnamon has no colouring added.
